Another LIVESET up

(Track7 - Death March) This one is strange. I started making a programmed beat today. Ended up creating it in a few hours and started recording layers over it. Same LIVESET rules. One take per track, leave the errors, give it a live feel, then add a little mixing. What you have is a bunch of noise that is called "Death March". Enjoy..............or don't.

New experimental LIVESET up. First of many.

Listen to the track titled LIVESET at 01recordings.com.

This is a new experimental way of recording I am going to try a few song with. One day, one take, a few tracks, and one quick mixing session.

For this song “White Wash”, I came up with the simple 6 chord progression and was ready to record and hour later. I decided to drop it into an acoustic version at the last min. I did one take each of the 4 tracks in about 30 mins. One acoustic rhythm guitar and one lead guitar take. I pulled up one of my favorite Reactor synth patches I had created called “Rusted pipe”. To me it sounds like an old pipe with a sound resonating through which crystallizes at the end. Then finally I found a sample of someone hitting a piece of metal. I took that and applied a bunch of trashy, bit-reducing filters to give is a strange sound and triggered it though Ableton Live.

With those pieces ready to record I did one take on each one of them, mistakes and all were kept. I did about two hours of mixing and adding a few effects like verb and delay back into the acoustic.

And that’s it. My first “improved” LIVESET.

Hanging out with Monarch

If you live in Salt Lake City Utah, I advise that you check out this band. They are one of the best local groups that SLC has to offer. The sound is unique and a pleasure for tired ears. Listen here: Monarch

Were is the new music???????

Well for the last month I have been sick with some sort of stomach parasite. The doctors finally have me fixed up and I am back on track.

I am working on a few songs right now that are quite complicated and are going to take some time to finish. Take a listen to the work in progress on the main page.

1. A Nine Inch Nails remix (Beginning of the End). You can hear the work in progress on the main page or below. For this remix I am using the original vocals. Although I chopped them up for a stutter effect that echos in tempo. Layered on top of that are several guitar, synth, and analog filter noise tracks. I am still trying to decide what to do with the ending where NIN has an obnoxious analog synth solo. I really wanted to take this back to a more Broken kind of sound.

2. A downtempo 80 BPM original instrumental. Kind of sonic, melodic metal.
"Intro" this track can be heard on the main page. I am working slowly on getting this finalized and mixed. A BIG thanks to Kevin Hawkins for laying down the guitar tracks on the song. The solo came out quite well.

Both of these workds in progress can be heard on the main page. http://01recordings.com
